1 CyberPower CP1500AVR LCD UPS System – Most Powerful Battery Backup

Regarded by many as one of the better UPS systems money can buy, CyberPower’s battery backup system is packed with useful features, extra protection, and a stunning design.

Powerful…

This particular model has a 1500AV/900W battery, which also makes it one of the most powerful batteries on the list.

It’s important that it is this powerful, especially if you want to run high-performance PC’s off of the system. It will be mainly in your best interest to spend a little extra to get a large UPS system like this if you plan on using it for your gaming computer or high spec Mac.

Expect around half an hour of usage on a high-end computer, with more prolonged use with smaller appliances. This is more than enough time to save all your important data, documents, or files before you run out of juice.

Other useful features…

The system has ample amounts of sockets, 12 to be exact. Of the 12 sockets, six are surge-protected outlets and are connected to the battery backup (used for computers), whilst the other six are normal surge protected sockets that can be used for other appliances.

There are also USB and serial ports if you want to charge your phone using a USB cable or connect to a network. This makes the CyberPower UPS system one of the best and most versatile battery backups money can buy.

Plus, let’s not forget the useful LCD screen that makes navigating and using the system a breeze.

CyberPower CP1500AVR LCD UPS System

Our rating:4.6 out of 5 stars (4.6 / 5)

Pros

  • Lots of power for high-end computers.
  • LCD makes it easy to use.
  • Large battery.
  • Versatile with lots of sockets.

Cons

  • Price.

2 APC BE600M1 UPS Battery Backup & Surge Protector – Best Battery Backup to Protect Electrical Equipment

Moving on from the large, versatile CyberPower UPS, we find ourselves compelled by the APC’s simplicity and ease of use.

First off, this system is almost half the price, which raises some eyebrows. But it shouldn’t really be compared to the CyberPower UPS because of the massive price difference.

Let us explain…

This system has been specifically designed to protect electrical equipment that is susceptible to damage when the power cuts off. That means a lot of the extra features found on the more expensive model aren’t here.

On this well-designed box, you will find five surge-protected sockets that are connected to the backup battery, which is a fair amount at the price it is retailing at. Five sockets are more than enough for any computer system. There are two extra sockets that are surge protected and a USB input as well. There is even a port for your wireless router to keep the internet connection going.

Relatively compact…

The battery is much smaller at 600VA or 330W. That means you would need to be quick to save everything and shut down the computer before the battery runs out. If you are running a small system, you should be fine, but don’t expect to run any large gaming computers on this system considering the large amount of power just the graphic card sucks up.

APC BE600M1 UPS Battery Backup & Surge Protector

Our rating:4.6 out of 5 stars (4.6 / 5)

Pros

  • Price.
  • Simple to use.
  • Good number of sockets.
  • Versatility.

Cons

  • No LCD screen on here.
  • Small battery size.

3 Tripp Lite SMART 1300VA UPS Battery Backup – Best Premium Battery Backup

While the Tripp Lite is definitely the best system on this list, it comes in at a higher price than the CyberPower but offers only slightly better performance.

Both systems have large batteries, a plethora of sockets, and an LCD screen.

Ok, so what’s the real difference?

The system has a huge LCD, which is easy to read and displays all the information you need on a single screen. The input and output voltage, frequency, load, and charge levels are all displayed on the LCD, as well as the backup runtime and battery levels.

Unfortunately, even at the high price, it only boasts four surge protected sockets. It is more than enough to run a personal computer, but it might not be enough for commercial systems. There is also a network line and a single USB port. Not the most expansive line of sockets and ports, but should work well for private use.

What we like most…

The 1300VA batteries are replaceable, which means this system is future-proof and is the best option if you will be using it frequently since frequent use diminishes a battery’s lifespan.

There is also software included that allows you to program automatic shutdown of devices, which means even if you aren’t there to turn off your computer, the Tripp Lite will do it for you.

Excellent, but not the best…

This system is the best option for home/private use, but it is quite expensive, which puts us in a difficult position. The automatic shut down feature is great, but it is more costly and has fewer sockets than the CyberPower UPS, which is why we still prefer it over the Tripp Lite UPS.

Tripp Lite SMART 1300VA UPS Battery Backup

Our rating:4.5 out of 5 stars (4.5 / 5)

Pros

  • Battery is large.
  • Large LCD displays all info.
  • Can automatically switch off devices.
  • Replaceable batteries.

Cons

  • Price.
  • Fewer sockets than cheaper alternatives.

4 APC BX1500M Battery Backup & Surge Protector – Battery Backup with Best Equipment Warranty

The APC BX1500M is a strong contender for the best battery back up with plenty of features similar to the more expensive systems, and it looks great as well.

APC is an American company that makes plenty of electronic peripherals for data centers.

But how does their backup battery perform?

For us, this is the best-looking UPS on the list, hands down. It’s small, with a sleek, matte-black coating, LCD-screen, and a great-looking APC logo situated to the side of the box. This UPS will easily fit in with any modern PC setup.

The battery size found inside is 1500VA or 900W. You will only get around two minutes of usage if the battery is run at full capacity, which can easily happen with today’s high-end gaming computers. If you aren’t running a monster of a computer, then you should expect some extra time, but don’t worry about guessing since all the information is displayed on the LCD screen.

Sockets?

This system has five sockets that are battery backup sockets and another five that are just surge protected. With these sockets, you also get two USB ports and two ethernet ports to keep the internet running.

Just like the Tripp-Lite, the batteries are replaceable, which is a big plus in our books. There is also an included warranty on all the equipment connected to the system, up to $250 000, which shows how much APC trusts their machine.

APC BX1500M Battery Backup & Surge Protector

Our rating:4.7 out of 5 stars (4.7 / 5)

Pros

  • Great design.
  • Large battery.
  • LCD screen.
  • Replaceable batteries.

Cons

  • It has a very annoying alarm sound.

5 CyberPower EC850LCD Battery Backup & Surge Protector – Best Electric Cost Saving Battery Backup

Our second CyberPower product on the list is a smaller product, but still of high quality. This specific battery backup has been designed for residential use, although it can be used in commercial settings as well.

Impressive…

There are six surge-protected battery backup outlets, which is more than enough for most applications. Once the power is off, the system will give you just over two minutes to get all your files or work saved and switch off the computer when all the sockets are in use. At half a load, the time more than doubles.

Apart from the six battery backup outlets, there are another three surge-protected sockets with an “ECO” mode, which turns off power when it senses that the device connected has been turned off, reducing costs and power usage.

The LCD screen also provides a fair amount of information, more than most people would need.

Smaller warranty protection, but still…

CyberPower offers a warranty on all products connected to the system of up to $100 000. This gives the users ease of mind and extra confidence in the product.

This product is about half the price of the larger, more expensive system that CyberPower offers, which is also one of our top picks. However, it’s important to remember that this system provides 850VA or 510W, which is half the amount provided by the CP1500AVR, meaning it won’t be able to power up huge, high-end computers that use a lot of power.

Not as versatile…

This unit also doesn’t have any other types of ports like USB or Ethernet ports, which makes it less versatile than the other UPS systems on the list.

CyberPower EC850LCD Battery Backup & Surge Protector

Our rating:4.6 out of 5 stars (4.6 / 5)

Pros

  • Good warranty provided.
  • Easy to use.
  • ECO mode cuts electrical costs.

Cons

  • No extra ports provided.
  • Smaller battery.

6 Forza- UPS 750VA- 375W Battery Backup – Best Budget Battery Backup

This is a small, budget-friendly option. When considering budget options, you should consider the size of the system you are trying to run. This system can power up to 375W, which means any computer that has a dedicated graphics card is most likely out of the question. That said, if you are running a less powerful computer, or want to keep a laptop running a little longer, then the 375W is more than enough.

Where else do they cut costs?

The system doesn’t offer as many sockets as some of the higher-priced UPS systems, with five surge-protected battery backup sockets and another surge protected socket extra.

The system does have ethernet ports for connecting your internet, which is excellent if you are doing work online.

Our main gripe…

The alarm can be irritating, especially when it is into the last minute or so of use and the warning alarm comes on. There is no mute button for this alarm.

There is also no LCD screen on here, so you won’t be able to access any useful information, which is why the alarm is used.

Forza- UPS 750VA- 375W Battery Backup

Our rating:4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5)

Pros

  • Price.
  • Good number of sockets.
  • Has ethernet ports.

Cons

  • Alarm doesn’t have a mute button.
  • No LCD or battery life indicators.

Best Battery Backup Buying Guide

CyberPower CP1500AVRLCD Intelligent LCD UPS System, 1500VA/900W

Before buying a battery backup system, there are some essential things to consider since the safety and well-being of your electronic equipment are at risk.

So, here are the things you should consider before buying a UPS system…

Number Of Plugs

Before making a decision, consider where the system will be stored and how many sockets will be needed. If you want to run only one computer, you most likely won’t need 12 sockets. If you are running a large number of computers or a server, getting a large number of sockets is recommended.

Also, make sure the number of actual battery backup sockets is the right amount for you. Some UPS systems have battery backup sockets and non-battery backup sockets. This means some are only surge protected but won’t be able to use the battery to stay on once the power cuts off.

Extra Ports And Functions

Would you like to use the internet from a router or charge your phone via a USB connection? Then make sure you purchase a UPS system that has these extra ports. Some of the budget-friendly options do not provide these features, so be on the lookout if that’s something you need.

LCD screens are also an excellent feature since they offer a lot of extra information. If you want to be able to monitor your battery’s condition and output/input, then purchasing a system with an LCD screen is a must. Otherwise, you will have to live with the annoying, low battery alarm.

Battery Size

Battery size directly correlates to the size of the computer that can be supplied power. For example, to run a new GTX 3080 card, a computer will need to provide 350W just to run the card alone. The recommended power supply for such a computer is no less than 750W, which is higher than a lot of UPS systems.

Thus, if you would like to run a high-end computer for a few minutes to save your game’s data or save your work files, then getting a large battery is very important.

If you don’t run such a large computer, then it would be wise to check your computer’s power supply and try to buy a battery the same size at least.

So What’s The Best Battery Backup?

Our top pick is definitely the…

CyberPower CP1500AVR LCD UPS System

It offers more than enough power and a plethora of sockets and ports, enough for any residential or commercial environment.

It’s priced reasonably well too. If you don’t need such a large supply of power, we recommend buying the smaller CyberPower system, which offers 510W of power and a decent number of sockets for half the price.

CyberPower has a great warranty, and their products have high-quality builds, which is why they are our top pick in the end.
