Chiclet keyboards get their name because of the keys. The small, flat, rectangular, rubber, or plastic keys look like pieces of Chiclet chewing gum. But think of them as a step up from the membrane keyboard that most laptops use.
Chiclets use the same rubber sheet with individual electric switches that membrane keyboards use. An additional upper layer provides tactile feedback through a bucking mechanism.
If you would like an upgrade from your standard membrane keyboard and aren’t a fan of mechanical keyboards, this is a great option. And they’re great value too. So, let’s take a look at the best Chiclet keyboards currently available and find the perfect one for you…

Dell KM714Â – Best Slim Chiclet Keyboard
Adding to the great value of this Dell Chiclet wireless keyboard is the inclusion of a wireless mouse in this bundle. The keyboard is slim, attractive, and lightweight, while the mouse matches perfectly with its own comfortable design.
Both the keyboard and mouse are finished in matte black with elegant silver accents around the edges. This style blends perfectly with most PCs and tablets. The slim profile frees up desk space giving a clean look.
Designed by Logitech…
Because Dell has used Logitech to design and manufacture this keyboard and mouse, you can be sure of its quality and performance. Logitech has to be one of the most trusted and respected accessory companies with nearly 40 years of experience.
This also means that you can take advantage of Logitech’s Unifying Technology. This means you can have up to six devices connected to the one wireless dongle receiver. Additionally, the Unifying Software makes setup quick and easy.
Added convenience…
Connecting the keyboard and mouse is simple. Just insert the USB nano receiver into an available slot on your PC. Once the batteries are added to the keyboard and mouse, you are ready to go.
The keyboard is full-sized with scissor key technology. Multimedia keys provide a quick shortcut to audio and video functions. These devices are compatible with all Windows versions from Windows 7 and onwards.
Pros
- Keyboard and mouse combo.
- Stylish and attractive design.
- Logitech wireless Unifying Technology.
Cons
- Mouse can feel a bit flat.
- Keyboard isn’t always super responsive.

Redragon K502Â – Best Gaming Chiclet Keyboard
Next up in our best Chiclet keyboards review is a worthy contender for gamers. While most gamers would prefer a mechanical keyboard, these can get rather expensive. Or perhaps you might even prefer the flatter, slimmer design of a Chiclet keyboard? Either way, if you’re gaming on a budget, you’re in luck.
This keyboard from Redragon offers a fantastic range of features at an incredibly low price. With the inclusion of items like a wrist rest and colorful, customizable RGB lighting, it looks like Redragon may have produced a winner.
Striking design…
An aggressive red and black design immediately makes you realize this isn’t any ordinary keyboard. It’s full-sized with 104 keys and plugs into your PC using a USB cord. The keys are low-profile and make little to no noise while still providing some tactile feedback.
One of this keyboard’s most striking features is the RGB lighting. There are six different lighting modes with four different brightness levels. You can also select from a whole host of lighting effects and what they call breathing speeds.
Added protection…
We all know just how easily one can get a little over-excited in the heat of battle, and sometimes accidents can happen. Luckily if you happen to spill liquid on the keyboard, it can be easily cleaned, as it offers water resistance.
One feature gamers will miss that can’t be offered on Chiclet keyboards is NKRO (N-Key Roll Over). Only a single keypress can register at a time, meaning that there is always the potential of a crucial input being missed.
Pros
- Fantastic value gaming keyboard.
- Striking design.
- RGB lighting.
- Easy to clean with water resistance.
Cons
- Wrist rest is not removable.
- No NKRO feature.

Logitech MK360Â – Best Wireless Chiclet Keyboard
This nice little wireless combo from Logitech somehow squeezes a full-sized keyboard into a frame around three-quarters the size of a regular keyboard. The mouse packaged with the keyboard is pretty good too.
Being so compact and also wireless allows for users to free up some desk space. It also means that this keyboard can be portable. A great addition to a laptop if you need to perform some intensive typing tasks.
Additional function keys…
Even though this keyboard is small, compact, and portable, there are further possibilities through the use of a function key. Besides the six media controls of play/pause, back, forward, mute, and volume up/down, there are twelve programmable F keys.
Usually, when a keyboard is this small, then a large amount of comfort and ergonomic function is lost. That is not as much the case here; even though it’s not the most ergonomic board, the small keys have plenty of space around them, giving the illusion of a larger size.
Superb battery life…
Powering the keyboard is three AA batteries that are actually included with the combo. The mouse requires an additional two AA batteries. With regular use, Logitech claims that they will last up to three years.
Connection is maintained via a 2.4 GHz radio frequency nano receiver that plugs into an available USB port. This includes Logitech’s Unifying technology, which allows up to six devices to connect using the same receiver.
Pros
- Mouse inclusion for even better value.
- Small, compact, and portable design.
- Massive battery life on both keyboard and mouse.
Cons
- Not ergonomically designed.
- Cheaper plastic construction.

Dell KM717Â – Best Bluetooth Chiclet Keyboard
This is an attractive keyboard and mouse combo from Dell. And it should be as it is one of the most expensive options here. The included mouse will work on any surface, including glass, with both devices, including the batteries in the packaging.
Because this keyboard uses Bluetooth, it makes it a much easier prospect for connecting to a tablet or even a smartphone. The frame has a stylish aluminum finish, while the keys are black in color, creating a nice contrast.
Surprisingly satisfying…
Connecting to either a PC or smart device is a simple and straightforward task by simply pairing via Bluetooth. Once underway, typing on the keyboard feels soft and quiet but still provides decent travel and responsiveness.
Even though it is slim and compact, it still offers a full keyboard experience. Two AAA batteries are required to power each, both keyboard and mouse. You can expect about six months of use from the mouse and twelve from the keyboard.
Make the switch…
In the top right corner of this keyboard, you will notice a toggle switch with three positions. This allows users to select between either the 2.4 GHz dongle or two separate wireless Bluetooth channels.
That makes using the keyboard with multiple devices easy. For example, the 2.4 GHz could be your PC, Bluetooth 1 could be your tablet, and Bluetooth 2 could be your smartphone. Swapping with the mouse is just as easy, thanks to a convenient button.
Pros
- Stylish aluminum design.
- Bluetooth connectivity.
- Easily switch between multiple devices.
Cons
- Not as affordable as other options.
- No rechargeable batteries.

Logitech K310Â – Best Washable Chiclet Keyboard
Do you have small kids in your home that have clumsy habits? Or clumsy adults in your office? Well, perhaps the Logitech K310 washable keyboard is just what you need so you can stop getting frustrated with them.
Not only is this keyboard washable, but it has also been constructed from heavy-duty materials that can take some punishment. Even the keys have been laser printed and feature a UV coating for an added layer of protection.
Plug and play…
Getting this keyboard up and running couldn’t be easier. There are no downloaded drivers or software required. Once the USB cable has been connected to an available port, the device is ready to use almost instantly.
In almost a reverse style, the frame of the keyboard is black with white keys. One of those white keys is the function key. This provides twelve hot-key shortcuts, including media controls, email access, launching web search, and more.
Staying squeaky clean…
Each of the keys is slightly raised to allow for easy cleaning underneath. There is even a brush located at the rear for getting every last bit of water and dust out. But the best bit is that you don’t need to waste too much time brushing.
Logitech recommends fully submerging the keyboard with the included USB cover attached when washing. We find it easier to put it under a slow-running tap. Once cleaned, leave it to dry as all the water runs out of the built-in drainage holes.
Pros
- Easy setup with plug-and-play.
- Laser printed, UV coated keys.
- Can be fully submerged in water.
Cons
- Low profile keys not comfortable for extended use.
- Extension legs are flimsy.
6
Perixx Periboard-317Â – Best Big Print Chiclet Keyboard
There has been one feature missing from all but one of these keyboards so far. Can you guess what it is? That’s right, backlighting. Not only is the Perixx Periboard-317 backlit, but it also features extra-large characters on the keys.
The main reason most of the other keyboards don’t provide backlighting is that they’re mostly wireless. Lighting puts a huge strain on the power, meaning battery life would suffer greatly. Due to this, the Perixx requires a cable for operation.
Stylish and simplified…
Finished in predominantly black, the legend on each key is printed in white in addition to a white border. Continuing with that theme, the backlight is provided by white LEDs. It can quickly be turned on and off via a button on the keyboard.
Getting started is incredibly easy, as no software is required. Simply plug the cord into any available USB port on your PC and start typing almost instantly. Compatibility is for Windows versions from 98SE onwards.
Making life easier…
Running the USB cable to your PC shouldn’t cause any problems with its 5.25 feet (1.6m) length. You can rest assured this keyboard has been engineered well, thanks to its designers in Germany.
Keys across the keyboard are well spaced, preventing incorrect presses. Performance is quiet and responsive, giving comfort whilst typing, even for extended periods. The only thing we could say we missed was having some media controls.
Pros
- Large print characters.
- Bright white LED backlighting.
- Easy to use.
- Â Plug-and-play.
Cons
- No function or media controls.
- Not a wireless keyboard.

HP Wireless Elite V2Â – Best Crosscompatible Low-Profile Chiclet Keyboard
This sleek and clean keyboard from HP can work with any Windows or Mac PC. Some of the keys won’t map with MacOS, but all other primary functions will be fine. This is a wireless keyboard that runs using a USB nano dongle via 2.4 GHz radio waves.
This full-sized keyboard is inexpensive yet still well constructed and provides a comfortable user experience. It is thin and lightweight in design and can operate up to 30 feet (9 meters) away from the dongle.
Getting started…
First of all, plug the small dongle into an available port on your PC o Mac. Once it’s in, all you need to do is press the blue connect button located underneath the keyboard. The connection is stable with almost zero lag during operation.
HP’s Elite V2 uses scissor-style keys that possess a tremendous amount of travel. Once pressed, the rebound is springy, even providing some feedback at around the halfway point. Operation is almost silent, making this an excellent option for the office.
Complete control…
Above the numeric pad, you’ll find four keys that control volume: mute, increase volume, decrease volume, and launch your browser search engine. These aren’t the only shortcut keys; there are more on the left-hand side.
Between the F2 and F7 keys are six media controls. When the function key is held down at the same time, you can play/pause, stop, skip, and search. Overall, the design, quality, functionality, and cross-compatibility of this keyboard make it excellent value.
Pros
- Sleek and professional design.
- Stable and lag-free wireless connection.
- Shortcut and media keys.
- PC or Mac compatible.
Cons
- Battery life is not as good as other products.
- No backlighting.
Best Chiclet Keyboards Buying Guide
We have shown you a wide range of Chiclet keyboards, all with various features for different purposes. While each of these products is fantastic in its own right, how do you know which will best suit your personal needs?
Well, that’s why we include this handy buying guide. We will now cover some of the key aspects you may not have considered. We hope that you can then make an informed and confident choice when selecting your keyboard.
Wired or Wireless
Having the freedom of a wireless keyboard is great. Not only do you never have to worry about messy wires or climbing behind desks, but it also offers you freedom of movement. Your keyboard is suddenly portable and can be used for a range of devices.
There is a trade-off, though; backlighting. We featured two wired keyboards, and they are both backlit. The Redragon provides the complete gamer RGB experience, while the Perixx offers more subdued white LED backlighting.
Bluetooth or 2.4 GHz
Most of the products here run using a 2.4 GHz nano dongle. While these are compatible with tablets, you will most likely require an additional converter cable to insert the dongle. That is where Bluetooth comes in handy.
There is only one product here that offers Bluetooth connectivity, and that is the Dell KM717. While it certainly carries a higher price tag than the other products, it also provides added convenience, especially being compatible with multiple devices.
Hopefully, these considerations have armed you with sufficient knowledge to make an informed choice. If you still lack confidence, though, stick around. Up next, we’ll reveal our pick for the best Chiclet keyboard and why, but before that…
