1 XFX Radeon RX 580 GTS XXX Edition – RX 580 Graphics Card with Most Display Ports

One of the first things you’ll probably notice with the XFX card is the carbon fiber look. It appears as if it could belong inside an exotic Italian supercar. These things are essential with a tempered glass panel on your PC case.

Importantly it’s not only the looks with this card that are impressive. It’s possible to run games at 1080p with the highest possible settings confidently. Now that’s what we like to hear.

What can this thing do?

For starters, there is a dual BIOS option. It can run at peak performance while keeping as cool as possible using performance BIOS. Or if a stealth approach is preferred, then there is a quiet, lower RPM BIOS mode.

XFX has included what they call True Clock Technology. Instead of the clock speed being controlled using software, it is hardware controlled instead. This way, the card is always running at an optimized performance level.

A type of quiet cool…

Keeping cool is essential for maximum gaming performance. At the same time, you really don’t want noisy fans distracting you from your gaming experience. Luckily XFX has a solution to keep things cool and quiet.

Using zero dB auto load sensing fans keeps them running at an efficient RPM. The card can cleverly detect when the highest possible performance is required. During intense gaming, they will speed up as needed from as low as zero RPM.

XFX Radeon RX 580 GTS XXX Edition

Our rating:4.5 out of 5 stars (4.5 / 5)

Pros

  • Dual BIOS options.
  • True clock technology.
  • Autoload sensing fans.

Cons

  • Large card for class.
  • Tricky 8 pin connector for installation.

2 MSI RX 580 Armour 8G OC – RX 580 Graphics Card with Best Software

As far as attractive cards go, there’s nothing to write home about with the MSI Armour. It appears to be two black and white fans strapped on top of a circuit board. Well, that’s essentially what all graphics cards are.

Looks aren’t important to all. Smooth, realistic graphics are usually where it’s at. MSI and gaming are synonymous, so we can be sure that this card is more than capable of providing a crisp, immersive gaming experience.

Stay in control…

MSI uses what’s called Afterburner as an overclocking facility. It supports multi-GPU setups and gives you full control of your hardware. Features include fan profiles, benchmarking, and Predator in-game video recording.

The Armour also supports AMD’s Eyefinity technology. If you like a truly immersive gaming experience, it’s possible to connect multiple displays. Great for use in driving simulators or even RPGs to feel like you’re really there.

Coolness in sink…

A massive heatsink with aluminum fins helps dissipate the heat away from the GPU. Copper heat pipes are infused with the baseplate for efficient cooling. Airflow control technology is then used to direct air from the fins to the heat pipes.

Assisting to keep things cool is the fan blades. Traditional blades maximize airflow towards the heatsink below. These are alternated with dispersion blades that create maximum air intake.

MSI RX 580 Armour 8G OC

Our rating:4.6 out of 5 stars (4.6 / 5)

Pros

  • Afterburner software for full control.
  • Multi-screen support.
  • Great cooling technology.

Cons

  • Not hugely attractive.
  • High power consumption.

3 Sapphire RX 580 Nitro+ – Best Looking RX 580 Graphics Card

Here we have the Nitro+ from Sapphire. For those of you who find joy in a little bling, the Sapphire logo on the shroud has super augmented RGB LEDs. This can be controlled using the Sapphire TriXX NITRO Glow Utility.

There are five different modes to choose from. These include fan speed, GPU temperature, the colorful rainbow mode, or can even be switched off altogether. It’s a nice showpiece to view through your glass panel on your PC case.

Boost of nitro…

A tough metal backplate made entirely from aluminum protects the card from bending. It also keeps dust out and helps with heat dissipation, keeping your card cool. It looks great, too, with a black and gray stripe pattern and logo.

By pairing this card with a FreeSync compatible monitor, the results are fantastic. Playing games in 1080p with the settings cranked up to max doesn’t bother it at all. There are no signs of screen tearing, and frame rates between monitor and GPU are matched perfectly.

Fans of cooling systems…

A robust VRM cooling system has a heatsink stamped to the shape of the MOSFET. Meanwhile, a high thermal conductivity pad takes away the heat efficiently. On the backside of the MOSFET, there is also a pad on the backplate. Covered from all angles.

Two massive yet silent 95mm blade fans do a great job of cooling the radiator. The use of dual bearings increases the lifespan while also keeping things quiet. We liked the fact that the fans can easily be removed for maintenance using a Quick Connect system.

Sapphire

Our rating:4.5 out of 5 stars (4.5 / 5)

Pros

  • Attractive design.
  • Sturdy backplate.
  • Effective cooling solution.

Cons

  • Slightly power-hungry.
  • PCIe power connectors in a poor location.

4 ASUS ROG Strix RX 580 Gaming OC Edition – Best Cooling System RX 580 Graphics Card

When you first take this card out of the box, it looks enormous. It certainly looks like it means business. And it does. If the size doesn’t immediately give it away, then the three fans mounted on top definitely will.

Wait until you power it up and see the Aura RGB lighting on both the shroud and backplate. Controlled using ASUS Aura Sync, millions of colors are possible along with six different effects.

Hardware and software…

Tweak II software gives you ultimate control over your GPU. With one click, a Gaming Booster function can maximize system performance. It achieves this by directing all your resources into the game and removing redundant processes.

When purchasing this card, you will also receive a 1-year subscription to XSplit Gamecaster. Streaming or recording gameplay is easy thanks to the in-game overlay. The Tweak II controls are even accessible from there.

A little help being cool…

FanConnect II is fantastic. A pair of 4-pin fan connectors at the side of the card allows connection to your case fans. It then tracks both your GPU and CPU temperatures and adjusts temperatures to keep the hottest one the cooler.

IP5X-certified dust resistance adds to the coolness. Combine this with a massive heat dissipation area and Wing-Blade designed fans, and we have one of the coolest cards available.

ASUS ROG Strix RX 580 Gaming OC Edition

Our rating:4.5 out of 5 stars (4.5 / 5)

Pros

  • Fantastic cooling system.
  • Great software support.
  • Cool RGB lighting.

Cons

  • Huge in size.
  • More expensive.

5 PowerColor RX 580 Red Devil – Toughest RX 580 Graphics Card

PowerColor has created a graphics card so tough it’s scary. With a 1.5mm metal backplate complete with a demonic pentagram to protect against bending. To achieve this kind of performance, PowerColor must have sold their soul.

An awesome red and black color scheme, complete with glowing red LEDs, is sure to give a sense of eeriness from within your case. The twin fans and massive heatsink leave just a taste of the cooling capabilities.

The Devil is in the details…

A silent fan feature is used to keep things quiet under general conditions. Unless the card heats up to over 60-degrees Celsius, the fans remain inactive. This also assists in reducing power consumption.

There is a switch in the board’s corner that allows you to select between two different BIOS settings. Choices are between maximum performance or maximum efficiency. It’s up to you if you want to unleash Hell.

When Hell freezes over…

A huge heatsink with countless aluminum fins maximizes surface area to help dissipate heat. Equipped with four heat pipes to lower temperatures and ensure performance is always at its maximum.

Each of the twin fans is fitted with tow-ball bearings that give up to a four times longer lifespan and spin 20% more efficiently. This is supposed to also keep the fans quiet. It does an excellent job under most loads, but when at 100%, they make a bit of a racket.

PowerColor RX 580 Red Devil

Our rating:4.4 out of 5 stars (4.4 / 5)

Pros

  • Switchable dual BIOS options.
  • Efficient cooling.
  • Strong design.

Cons

  • Fans are noisy under 100% load.
  • Takes nearly three slots of space.
