Best Under Desk Bikes In 2023 – Top 8 Rated Reviews

Top 8 Best Under Desk Bikes In 2023 Reviews

1 DeskCycle Under Desk Cycle,Pedal Exerciser – Stationary Mini Exercise Bike – Office, Home Equipment – Best Resistance Under Desk Bike

The DeskCycle is one of the more popular under desk bikes.

It can be used under desks with heights as low as 27”. It has a pedal height of just 9.5”, which means it can be used under any standard office desk.

The pedals are large, and the straps are nice and wide. They can be easily adjusted with the provided Velcro fasteners. The straps are suitable for all sizes of feet from small to large.

The DeskCycle is one of the quietest under desk bikes you can buy…

They use their patented magnetic resistance system to keep everything running whisper-quiet. But even better, it’s silky smooth too. This allows you to forget about the pedaling and focus on your work. You’ll clock up the miles without even noticing.

Vast resistance range…

If you decide you want to make things a little more challenging then, you can do that too. The DeskCycle has an 8-way adjustable resistance knob. Make things as easy or as tough as you like. The DeskCycle has one of the most impressive resistance ranges compared to other under desk bikes. In fact, it has twice the resistance range of most under desk pedal exercisers.

One other handy feature is the LCD screen. The screen allows you to track your performance, and display a range of parameters over a full 1,000 minutes. Now that should be long enough for even those Tour de France guys!

One or two small quibbles…

The parameters you can monitor include your time elapsed, distance traveled, cadence, scan, and very importantly, your calories burned. Sadly, the LCD is at the far end of the machine, so when under the desk, it is difficult to see. However, if you have it out when you’re on the sofa, the display is big enough to read with no real problems.

DeskCycle Under Desk Cycle,Pedal Exerciser - Stationary Mini Exercise Bike - Office, Home Equipment

Our rating:4.6 out of 5 stars (4.6 / 5)

  • Whisper quiet.
  • Smooth.
  • Wide pedals.
  • LCD screen.
  • 8-way adjustable resistance.

Cons

  • LCD hard to see when under the desk.

2 Sunny Health & Fitness SF-B0418 Magnetic Mini Exercise Bike with Digital Monitor and 8 Level Resistance

This is a versatile, affordable option for anyone looking for an under desk bike.

Highly portable…

The Sunny Health & Fitness exercise bike is nice and compact. It measures just 22” X 18” X 14.75”. It also weighs only 21 pounds. This makes it easily portable, which is further helped by the rugged carrying handle on the top.

Hands or feet…

The pedals are cleverly designed to be used with either your hands or feet. This is a cool idea. It means that you can get a work out for your upper body too. Once you’ve finished working out your legs, simply place the desk bike onto a table and use your hands to pedal rather than your feet.

You’ll probably need to wipe the pedals down first, but otherwise, what’s not to like?

The pedals have adjustable rubber straps and are easy to use with or without shoes. If you prefer to use the Sunny without straps, you can do that too. They can quickly be removed for storage.

Eight levels of resistance…

You can adjust your resistance with the tension knob, which has eight levels of resistance. That should be plenty to ensure a great workout for your arms and legs.

Good LCD positioning…

To keep track of your performance, there is a large LCD to display your results. This is positioned right above the tension wheel at the front of the exercise bike. This means that, unlike the DeskCycle, it’s easy to monitor your efforts even when the bike is under the desk.

The LCD allows you to track your time, speed distance, and calories burned. The Sunny Health & Fitness SF-B0418 Magnetic Mini Exercise Bike has a weight limit of 220lbs.

Sunny Health & Fitness SF-B0418 Magnetic Mini Exercise Bike with Digital Monitor and 8 Level Resistance

Our rating:4.5 out of 5 stars (4.5 / 5)

Pros

  • It can be used with hands and feet.
  • Adjustable tension wheel.
  • Carrying handle.
  • LCD can be read when under the desk.

Cons

  • Low weight limit.

3 DeskCycle 2 Under Desk Cycle,Pedal Exerciser – Stationary Mini Exercise Bike -Office, Home Equipment – Adjustable Legs – Best LCD Under Desk Bike

The DeskCycle 2 is every bit as good as the original version with a couple of neat improvements. However, this is the most expensive of all the best under desk bikes on our list. So, you’ll have to be prepared to push the boat out a little if you want to get one of these under your desk.

Easy foot adjustment…

It has large pedals that can be used with or without shoes. The straps are easy to adjust and are suitable for people of all shoe sizes. The Velcro straps make on-the-fly adjustment easy too.

The DeskCycle 2 also has an adjustable pedal height. Unlike the DeskCycle, on the DeskCyclle 2, you can change the pedal height between 9” to 10”. It’s a useful upgrade.

Near silent…

This model is happily still one of the quietest under desk bikes on the market. It undoubtedly stands out for its silky smooth and near-silent operation, thanks to its patented magnetic resistance system.

So, when you’re at your desk and working, it will allow you to fully focus without being unnecessarily distracted by an annoying whirring sound.

Beginner or advanced…

The DeskCycle 2 has a variable resistance knob. You have a selection of eight different settings from low to crazy hills high. It has enough range to satisfy both beginners and more advanced fitness enthusiasts.

It also has an updated, advanced LCD screen…

The LCD is more substantial than on the previous model and is also able to display a range of parameters over 10,000 rather than 1,000 minutes. We thought 1,000 minutes was more than enough, but obviously, we were wrong!

The LCD can display the time elapsed, cadence, distance, scan, and calories burned. Unfortunately, the display is still positioned at the far end of the machine. This means that when it’s tucked under the desk, you’ll still have problems trying to read it.

DeskCycle 2 Under Desk Cycle,Pedal Exerciser - Stationary Mini Exercise Bike -Office, Home Equipment - Adjustable Legs

Our rating:4.6 out of 5 stars (4.6 / 5)

  • Silky smooth.
  • Quiet.
  • Pedals can be adjusted.
  • Large LCD screen.
  • Can display 10,000 hours of data.
  • 8-way adjustable resistance.

Cons

  • Difficult to see the LCD screen under the desk.

4 FitDesk Under Desk Elliptical Bike Pedal Machine for Home Use or Office Under The Desk Exercise Machine – White – Quietest Under Desk Bike

The FitDesk is an elliptical bike rather than a standard exercise bike. Think of it like a standard elliptical bike, or a cross-trainer as they’re also known that you can find at every gym, except that this one doesn’t have any handles.

The different motion will work your leg muscles slightly differently…

But, the result will be the same. You’ll get similar kinds of fitness gains and weight loss. The FitDesk has a shallow level of pedal rotation, so it is suitable for just about any desk. If you have a clearance as little as 25”, then you’re good to go.

It can be adjusted for tension if you want to increase your effort. Happily, it is possible to move the lever even if you’re wearing shoes. It all saves having to stoop down under the desk.

Impressively quiet…

We’re sure you’ll agree that it’s essential for any desk bike to be quiet. Well, the good news is that the FitDesk is one the best under desk bikes for keeping quiet. If you want to concentrate on your work in peace, then you’ll have no problems with any excess noise from your FitDesk.

Movable LCD…

One of the things we like about this under desk bike is that the LCD digital meter is not permanently attached to the bike. It has a mounting bracket on the machine, but it’s also connected by a cable, with its own stand so that it can be moved around. You can even place it on your desk if you want to.

What a great idea!

This is significantly more convenient than having to peer under your desk to track your progress repeatedly. The LCD can track your speed, cadence, distance, and calories. There’s also a scan mode.

FitDesk Under Desk Elliptical Bike Pedal Machine for Home Use or Office Under The Desk Exercise Machine – White

Our rating:4.4 out of 5 stars (4.4 / 5)

Pros

  • Very quiet.
  • Can adjust resistance by foot.
  • Low-level pedal rotation.
  • Moveable digital LCD.

Cons

  • Low resistance, even on high setting.

5 MagneTrainer-ER Mini Exercise Bike Arm and Leg Exerciser – Best Under Standing Desk Bike

This is much taller with an appreciably bigger profile than the under desk bikes we’ve already reviewed. You will need at least 34” of clearance for the MagneTrainer. This means that it’s only suitable if you have a taller desk.

Or, even better, an adjustable standing desk…

The MagneTrainer is wide as well as tall. It measures 15” wide, which gives it a nice stable base. Regardless, if you use it on a carpeted or a tiled or wooden floor, it will stay firmly put.

It’s well put together and uses some high-quality components. It uses expensive German bearings, heavy-duty pulleys, and flywheels, plus 4V belts. It’s strong and durable and backed by the company’s no quibble 12 months warranty.

Fuller range of motion…

There’s no doubt that because of the taller stance, you can enjoy a fuller range of motion than most compact under desk bikes offer. Your efforts can be made as easy or as hard as you like. It features a step-less rotational dial that enables you to choose the exact amount of resistance you require.

Arm workouts too…

If you prefer to use the trainer for an arm workout, you can put it on your desk. The pedals are nicely shaped for either your feet or hands. When you’re using your feet, you can secure them in place with the Velcro straps in just seconds.

Wish the LCD is situated at the far end of the machine…

The screen is relatively large and comfortable to read when it’s up on the desk. However, when you’re working your legs, you’ll have to crane your neck under your desk to keep tabs of your progress.

The LCD can track your time, distance, cadence, and calories burnt. It also has a scan feature.

MagneTrainer-ER Mini Exercise Bike Arm and Leg Exerciser

Our rating:4.6 out of 5 stars (4.6 / 5)

Pros

  • Well-engineered.
  • Good range of motion.
  • Stepless rotational resistance knob.
  • Can be used to exercise your arms.

Cons

  • Poor placement of the LCD.
  • Only suitable for use under taller desks.

6 Vive Pedal Exerciser – Stationary Exercise Leg Peddler – Low Impact, Portable Mini Cycle Bike for Under Your Office Desk – Slim Design for Arm or Foot – Small, Sitdown Recumbent Equipment Machine – Best Under Desk Bike with App

This is a lightweight and inexpensive under desk bike. It measures 16” x 10” x 12.5” and weighs just 12.6 pounds. It has a carry handle, making it easy to lift onto your desk and use for an arm workout.

Good compact, highly portable design…

The Vive is small enough to fit unobtrusively under any desk. It has non slip feet, that also prevent wobbling, and can be used on any surface. This includes carpets, wooden floors, tiles, and desktops. Best of all, the feet are also non-marking.

The pedals also have a non-slip surface and are easily adjusted for any size of shoes. When you’re using the Vive Pedal Exerciser, your feet feel firmly planted. This allows you to concentrate on work and forget about your workout.

Too little resistance for us…

It has a tension knob placed at the front of the exerciser. However, even at the highest level of tension, the degree of difficulty is not very taxing. Set at 10, the feeling is about the same as riding up a very gentle hill.

But we really like the App…

Vive has a handy Vive Fit App that you can download for free. It includes training videos and tracking software. It’s a brilliant way to keep a check on your progress as you start to regain your fitness.

This desk bike also has a large LCD that records time, distance, cadence, speed, and calories burned. It’s well placed at the front of the bike. This means that even when it’s under your desk, you’re still able to track your progress without having to stoop down.

Vive Pedal Exerciser - Stationary Exercise Leg Peddler - Low Impact, Portable Mini Cycle Bike for Under Your Office Desk - Slim Design for Arm or Foot

Our rating:4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5)

Pros

  • Affordable.
  • Lightweight.
  • Suitable for arm and leg workouts.
  • Vive Fit App.

Cons

  • It provides only low levels of resistance.

7 Vaunn Medical Folding Pedal Exerciser with Electronic Display for Legs and Arms Workout (Fully Assembled Exercise Peddler, no Tools Required) – Best Portable Under Desk Bike

This is the most affordable of all the under desk bikes in our review.

Although it’s the least expensive, it still has plenty of functionality…

One of the features of its affordability is that it loses the casing that encloses all the other under desk bikes. This has the benefit of making the Vaunn Medical Folding Pedal Exerciser appreciably lighter than any of the other bikes we’ve reviewed.

In fact, it weighs just 5.95 pounds, making it the most portable…

Since it can also be easily collapsed too, it’s simple to carry around with you. Additionally, it’s also easy to place on your desk to give yourself an arm workout.

Another advantage of the minimalist design is that you can see and quickly gain access to all the moving parts. When you need to service or maintain it, there are no panels to remove. This is undoubtedly a bit of a time saver.

Fiddly straps though…

The Vaunn Medical Folding Pedal Exerciser has straps for the feet. Sadly, they are a bit fiddly to put on and adjust. Also, if you have broad fitting shoes, it’s a tight squeeze to get your feet fully seated.

Happily, it’s better news for the LCD, which is sensibly placed at the front of the machine. It’s easy to view, and it gives you all the standard information you’re likely to need.

Despite the low price, it’s still smooth and quiet…

It even has a tension wheel to increase resistance. Though unfortunately, even the highest settings still only afford quite low levels of resistance.

The Vaunn under desk bike is suitable to use under most standard desks. To check before you buy, make sure you have 13” of clearance between the bottom of your desktop and your knees. If you have that, then you’re all good.

Vaunn Medical Folding Pedal Exerciser with Electronic Display for Legs and Arms Workout (Fully Assembled Exercise Peddler, no Tools Required)

Our rating:4.3 out of 5 stars (4.3 / 5)

Pros

  • Inexpensive.
  • Lightweight.
  • Easy to maintain.
  • Foldable.

Cons

  • Poor pedal straps.

8 FLEXISPOT Height Adjustable Cycle – Deskcise Pro – Most Stable Under Desk Bike

Dust off the credit card. You’ll have to dig a lot deeper into your pockets for the FLEXISPOT desk bike. Which is really more of an exercise bike with an attached desk, as opposed to a purely under desk bike.

Interesting…

The FLEXISPOT Height Adjustable Cycle has an adjustable seat and a small adjustable desk. The seat is suitable for anyone between 5’ 1” to 6’ 2”. The desk is big enough to sit a large laptop, your phone and a cup of tea but not much else.

The FLEXISPOT can also be used under a standing desk. To do this, you just have to remove the FLEXISPOT desktop, which is quick and easy to do. But, it can’t be used under a standard size desk as it’s far too high.

Particularly stable…

This is one of the quietest of all the bikes we’ve reviewed. It’s also one of the smoothest, and it’s undoubtedly the best under desk bike on our list for stability. No matter how hard you push your pace, you’ll get no wobble or movement from the bike.

Lockable castors…

The FLEXISPOT has castors on the end of four foldable legs. The castors make it easy enough to move around, and the foldable legs make it easy to store when not in use. When the bike is in situ, the castors can be locked to keep it stable.

Because of the sit-on design, there’s no need for straps to keep your feet in place. This makes it easier to use with or without footwear and for any size foot.

Best resistance range…

Another positive feature for the design is that it allows for a much higher range of resistance than on any of the other exercise bikes. When you turn the tension wheel to 8+, you’ll be able to feel a significant difference compared to when it’s set to zero.

The LCD is clear and easy to read. It records distance, time, cadence, calories, and speed. It also has a timer and a scan function. That’s all the information you’re ever likely to need.

FLEXISPOT Height Adjustable Cycle - Deskcise Pro

Our rating:4.4 out of 5 stars (4.4 / 5)

Pros

  • Very stable.
  • Quiet.
  • Smooth.
  • No foot straps required.
  • Good range of variable resistance.

Cons

  • It cannot be used with a standard sized desk.
  • Price.

Best Under Desk Bikes Buying Guide

  • Resistance

If you’re getting back into exercise after a long break or possibly after surgery, resistance in the early days won’t be necessary. However, even after a short while, you may well want to increase the intensity of your workouts.

All the under desk bikes we reviewed can increase the level of difficulty…

Sunny Health & Fitness SF-B0418 Magnetic Mini Exercise Bike with Digital Monitor and 8 Level Resistance

But, the two DeskCycle bikes are clear winners when it comes to the range of resistance achievable for a bike that can be used under a standard desk. If you are using a standing desk, the FLEXISPOT Height Adjustable Cycle is capable of an even greater range.

  • Portability

If you plan to move you under desk bike between workstations or offices, then portability will be necessary. It’s also useful to be able to easily store it when not in use.

Although it doesn’t have a handy carrying handle, like the Sunny Health & Fitness SF-B0418 Magnetic Mini Exercise Bike, the most portable under desk bike is the Vaunn Medical Folding Pedal Exerciser. It also happened to be the lightest, weighing just 5.96 pounds.

If stability is more important…

The least of all portable under desk bikes is the FLEXISPOT Height Adjustable Cycle. It’s the largest and heaviest of all the bikes, which also makes it the most stable. It has wheels that make it easy to move between desks. However, if you need to move it between offices, it’s liable to take up a lot of trunk space.

  • Noise

DeskCycle 2 Under Desk Cycle,Pedal Exerciser

Having any excess noise when you’re at your desk can be very distracting. Therefore, having a quiet bike is essential. We found the elliptical bikes to be slightly more subdued than the exercise bike style of machines. The FitDesk Under Desk Elliptical Bike was the quietest of all.

Out of the box, we had no issue with any of the bikes. The truth is, though, over time, if the bikes are not correctly serviced, they’re liable to become noisy and squeaky. Make sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions and be prepared to periodically break out the spanners, screwdrivers, and cans of oil.

When you’re forced to do this, you might be thankful if you bought the Sunny Health & Fitness SF-B0418 Magnetic Mini Exercise Bike. This is because it has no cover plates, and so will be the simplest to repair and maintain.

  • Dual Functions

Most of the non-elliptical under desk bikes can be used for both your arms and legs. If you buy an elliptical bike, you’ll only be able to exercise your legs. Similarly, the FLEXISPOT Height Adjustable Cycle only has the facility to exercise your legs.

  • Foot Straps

Elliptical trainers can get some points back and score over exercise bikes as they don’t require foot straps. This means you can choose to have footwear or not, and they’re still easy to use.

If you prefer to use an under desk bike, non-elliptical, the ones with the best and easy to use foot straps were the DeskCycles. Both have rubber straps and Velcro fasteners that can be used with all sizes of feet and footwear. They take seconds to adjust.
