Top 5 Best Touch Screen Monitors In 2021 Review
1 Acer T272HL – Best Vertically Aligned Touch Screen Monitor
This beautifully designed offering from mega-brand Acer is a great place for us to kick things off. Impressive straight out of the box, the contrast ratio, and the color accuracy are exactly what we have become used to seeing from Acer. This translates into a satisfying user experience, especially if you are looking for a touch screen to use in design or artwork.
Or fast-paced gaming…
The 10 point capacitive touch system is for sure one of the most significant advantages of the Acer T272HL. Being able to use every finger at once may seem a bit of a reach in real-world terms, but in many situations, this feature is exactly what we were looking for.
The 5ms pixel response time means that this monitor is also suitable for fast-paced gaming and action-packed streaming, although the VA (vertically aligned) panel does lack the wider viewing angle that IPS (in panel switching) panels possess.
Ample connection options…
At the back of the unit, we find a substantial array of ports, including the DVI, VGA, and HDMI video inputs, along with an upstream USB 3.0 port, AUX input, and power jack. This selection covers most needs.
This screen is far from perfect, though. The 1920x1080p Full HD resolution falls short of 4K, but 4K touch screens are still very pricey, and to be honest, that may not be a huge issue for your needs. If that’s the case, then the Acer T272HL might be for you and is one of the best on offer right now!
- Super responsive 10 point capacitive touch system.
- Every port you could need.
- Excellent color accuracy.
- Great aesthetics.
- Not the widest viewing angle.
2 HP E203T – Best Wide Angle Touch Screen Monitor
Next up in our best touch screen monitors review is an entry from a trusted brand. The HP E230T is HP’s latest touch screen offering, and what a great monitor it is!
In many ways, it’s not unlike our previous listed screen, the Acer T272HL, with many of the same specs. But there are some marked differences in usability and styling that make this touch screen a worthy contender.
How is it different?
Setup and configuration are a breeze with both the Acer T272HL and this HP E230T, with port selection covering VGA, DisplayPort, and HDMI inputs – plus two USB 3.0 for any peripherals you may want to plug in. Again we see a max resolution of 1920×1080, a 5 ms response time, and the color accuracy and contrast ratio are truly top-notch, resulting in a beautiful digital landscape.
One of the primary differences here is that HP has decided to go with an IPS panel rather than VA, meaning the viewing angle is much wider (a whole 178 degrees, to be exact). The 10 point multi-touch discussed in the last model is also on show here, so there will be no issues with any type of usage you envision with this great monitor.
The virtually borderless design is one of the features that really stood out when we unboxed this touch screen. The super-slim bezels are designed to make it feel like a larger screen than 23 inches, and this design point works beautifully.
The ergonomics of the screen are fantastic, with a tremendous amount of movement available while mounted on the included stand, and, of course, there is a Vesa mount should you want to wall mount this monitor.
All in all, a top-class touch screen monitor and one that everyone should consider!
- Anti-glare coating.
- Large viewing angle.
- Gorgeous slim design.
- 1920x1080p max resolution.
3 ViewSonic TD2421 – Best Touch Screen Monitor for Public and Retail Use
Now for something a little different…
This absolute workhorse of a touchscreen is one of the go-to touch screens for commercial use, such as POS displays and public use screens, etc. It has some obvious drawbacks when looking from a technical standpoint, but when used in the right environment, this screen really shines!
Drawbacks, you say?
Well, that really depends on what you may consider a drawback. Yes, this monitor lacks the 10 point capacitive touch system featured in the previous models reviewed, but this can also be a selling point depending on how you want to use it.
For sure, this is not the right touch screen for you if you want one for creative endeavors, but if you are looking for one to use with your cash register, then you should indeed take a closer look!
Great for use with gloves or a stylus…
Here ViewSonic has decided to go with a dual-point optical touch system allowing users the ability to perform two-finger gestures such as zoom in/out, rotations, and two-finger taps. And by choosing to go with a resistive touch screen, ViewSonic has made the perfect screen for usage with gloves or a stylus, which is extremely useful for some work environments.
All the ports we like to see are present, and with the “SuperClear MVA” panel, the viewing angle is unsurpassed. The scratch-resistant surface is very high quality, meaning that you do not need to worry if you are going to open this screen up for public use!
- Perfect for retail or commercial use.
- Blue light filter inbuilt.
- High-quality scratch resistant surface.
- Can be used wearing gloves or with stylus.
- Not suitable for all uses.
4 Asus VT168H – Best Budget Touch Screen Monitor
Next up, we have the great little Asus VT168H, which is not only the smallest screen we are looking at today but also the cheapest! And at 15.6”, it is still larger than your most common laptop display. This great touch screen is maybe the best bang for your buck out there right now and has myriad uses.
We are back to the 10 point capacitive touch system commonly seen in this category, plus the Asus VT168H comes with a handy virtual keyboard. Now, we know what you’re thinking, and yes, usually, these virtual keyboards are not that great to use. That’s not the case here, though! Asus has done a remarkable job, giving us a keyboard that is an absolute pleasure to type on.
With the exception of a DVI port, all the usual suspects are featured, with a few USB 3.0 ports thrown in for good measure. The circular base allows for a large range of tilt and movement, with a VESA mount available for wall mounting.
In terms of resolution, the Asus VT168H is slightly lacking. Topping out at 1366x768p puts this touch screen monitor at the lower end of our list today, but for the price, it’s understandable. And, with the screen not being huge, this wasn’t as much of an issue as we thought it might be.
Overall a great budget offering from Asus!
- Cheap as chips.
- ASUS Eye Care technology.
- 10-point touch capacity
- Lower resolution than others listed.
5 Acer UT241Y – Best Large Touch Screen Monitor
Rounding out our list today is the second offering from Acer, this time the UT241Y. This touch screen monitor comes in at an impressive 23.8 inches and has an almost frameless design that exudes class.
Lifelike picture quality…
The Full HD 1920x1080p display comes with a 100,000,000:1 contrast ratio, which provides superb color accuracy and almost lifelike picture quality. This is the perfect touch screen for any budding artists out there looking to up their game and take their craft to the digital landscape.
Once again, we are offered a 10 point multi-touch display and Acer’s proprietary anti-glare coating, which helps with reducing reflections and fingerprint marks. The unique double hinge mechanism provides a vast amount of tilt optionality, which makes this monitor perfect for a multitude of work environments.
How about viewing angles?
Acer has ticked that box also, with the IPS panel offering the full 178 degrees of viewing pleasure that we think is highly important for touch screens. Eye safety was obviously at the top of their list when designing the UT241Y, with AcerVisionCare taking center stage. Screen flickering is undoubtedly a thing of the past here, and the added blue light filter takes a lot of the strain away.
Every port under the sun is included, plus two USB-C ports for fast charging and data transfer.
Acer has hit it out of the park with this one.
- Dual hinge.
- Large screen and viewing angle.
- 10 point touch.
- USB-C ports.
- Honestly, nothing glaring here.
Best Touch Screen Monitors Buyer’s GuidePreview (opens in a new window)
Probably the first thing you want to consider when looking into which touchscreen monitor is the right one for you and your needs. These days they can range anywhere from a few hundred dollars up into the thousands. Work out your budget first, and then see what’s on offer.
- Touch Technology
It goes without saying that all touch screens support touch commands. But the way in which these screens achieve this goal varies widely. Most common is either capacitive or resistive touch technology.
Capacitive touchscreens are known for being more sensitive than their resistive counterparts and are usually the preferred technology these days. Using electrical capacitance changes to identify inputs, they offer “multi-touch” usage, meaning you can use more than one finger digit at a time, which is useful in a multitude of situations.
Resistive touch screens…
Resistive touch screens use pressure instead of electrical changes to identify inputs. These are constructed from several layers of differing materials, usually glass and plastic, which are coated in a conductive coating.
When any pressure is applied to the screen, the electrical resistance increases, resulting in an input being applied. This type of system can be useful in certain situations, especially in environments where the user will be wearing gloves or for use with a stylus.
However, we recommend using a capacitive touchscreen whenever possible.
You may be looking for a small, personal use touchscreen. Or something much larger to use in a conference setting. Or even something in between. In any case, there are heaps of options available, ranging from screens not much larger than your everyday tablet to supersized behemoths. Consider exactly what it is you’re going to be using your new touchscreen for, and go from there.
An often overlooked but notably critical feature of any touch screen monitor (or any monitor in general) is not just which ports are available but also where they are located on the unit.
Want to be able to connect your touch screen to an external screen for more extensive viewing options? Then you are definitely going to want an HDMI port. Want to block out external distractions? Make sure there’s an AUX port. The possibilities are endless, so make sure all the bases you need are covered on the touch screen monitor you choose.
- Aspect Ratio
Most up to date monitors now use an aspect ratio of 16:9, which is wider than the more dated 4:3 ratio that many screens were known for in the 2000s. But, of course, depending on what you intend to use your new touch screen for, you may find a rarer aspect ratio better suited.
