Soundbars are a great way of enhancing your TV audio without having to pay a lot of money. A good soundbar will give you the experience of a home theater but at a very reasonable price.
In our VIZIO SB2821-D6 Review, we will be covering a quality yet inexpensive soundbar that is a great choice for anyone who wants improved TV audio without spending a fortune.
But before we get to that, let’s find out why soundbars are such a good option…
Why Are Soundbars Important?
Musicians spend a lot of their time setting up their sound to make sure that it sounds as good as possible. That is why having the right sound setup is so important whenever audio is concerned. Great music will sound bad when played through sub-standard speakers, and the same goes for movies.
In fact, we can’t think of anything worse than watching a movie where you can’t hear the sound properly. And we hate to say that this happens all too often, especially when people insist on using their TV’s in-built speakers. This often means that your whole viewing or listening experience goes down the drain.
As we all know, you don’t have to be a music enthusiast or a musician to enjoy and appreciate great sound quality. Most people who enjoy listening to music or watch movies won’t spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on their sound systems. No, they tend to buy cheaper audio solutions thinking they are good enough to satisfy their needs.
But what if we tell you that there is a way to get high-quality speakers with excellent sound quality for one to two hundred bucks! Would you believe us?
Well, it is actually possible…
The most cost-effective way to set up a great sound system for your home without spending a fortune is by getting a soundbar. Well, the right soundbar. Not all of them are so great, so you will need to do your homework before buying.
Most people actually listen to the majority of their music at home. It might be from video games, from the TV, or even simply by playing music on their audio system. It may sound complicated to find a great sound system, but it really isn’t. However, it takes time to research and find out what all the technical terms actually mean.
But that’s why we are here…
To save you that time and effort. We spend hours testing and reviewing the best sound systems, and honestly, soundbars are not quite up there with high-end surround systems, but for the price you pay, they offer fantastic sonic results.
Soundbars are also the way to go if you want a great sound without taking up a lot of space, unlike conventional speaker setups. Another benefit compared to the speaker setup is the lack of cables running everywhere. That is unless you buy a more expensive Bluetooth or wireless surround system.
How Do Soundbars Work?
It is actually pretty simple. Soundbars work in the same way that a normal speaker setup would. Basically, the soundbar is a single enclosure that normally contains a number of small speakers that enhance the TV’s built-in speakers. However, they aren’t only for your TV; soundbars are great for playing music from any audio devices you may have.
What really sets them apart from other speaker setups is the convenience. They are normally very compact yet still offer a full and immersive sound that is similar to what you would get from a multiple speaker setup.
Most modern-day soundbars feature a built-in amplifier, which allows them to act as a complete amp and speaker setup.
So, Let’s Move On To Our Rreview Of The Vizio SD2821-D6…
It is quite a compact unit measuring only 28 x 3 x 3 inches, which will save you a lot of space. And it is also lightweight, weighing only 3.85 pounds. It may not be the lightest soundbar you will find, but you definitely won’t suffer any injury trying to move it.
The sound quality is very good considering the price, and it will give you a lot of the benefits you would get from a good speaker setup.
As we all know, it is not difficult to improve on the sound coming from the TV. But the clarity of sound of the Vizio SD2821-D6 is quite extraordinary. And the two-channel soundbar with included sub-woofer that will give you a crystal-clear sound and excellent low end at levels of up to 95 dB.
The Bluetooth is both fast and effective and allows you to connect and stream from multiple devices like tablets, smartphones, or even through your computer. It also features DTS TruVolume and DTS TruSurround, as we will discuss later.
The setup isn’t as easy as you would hope, though. In fact, we struggled a bit to get it to work properly. Vizio claims that this is a plug and play device; simply plug it in and start to enjoy it, but there is a catch. The manual is quite complicated, and you need to know a thing or two about soundbars to be able to actually navigate through it easily.
However, after a bit of reading and configuration, we finally got it to work.
The SD2821-D6 has a lot of outstanding features. The DTS TruSurround is a virtual surround sound technology that produces a realistic surround sound environment. While the DTS TruVolume makes sure that you always have a comfortable level of volume, which makes your viewing and listening experience more satisfying and enjoyable.
It also includes Dolby Digital, which, combined with TruSurround and TruVolume, give you a perfectly balanced sound that will make any movie come to life.
Also included is a powerful wireless subwoofer. This really boosts the low-end sounds adding depth to any soundtrack. And being wireless, you don’t need to worry about any cables cluttering your desk or TV-bench. The expansive audio delivers up to 95 dB of high-quality, crystal-clear sound.
Vizio claims that there is less than 1% total harmonic distortion, so clarity will be maintained whatever volume you listen at.
2.1 Soundbar system…
The SD2821-D6 has two powerful speakers that are paired with the subwoofer. As mentioned, the combination delivers a great low-frequency response that really enhances your experience. Of course, Bluetooth is also included, but we have already mentioned that.
Modern Design With A Slick Look…
If we take a look at the design, it’s simple yet modern and slick with no unnecessary elements. The most intriguing thing are the two silver panels on each side with a stylized element looking like the letter V. It is delivered with a wall-mount and is very simple to mount. Because of the slick design, you can also place it on a table underneath your TV or on a shelf.
The top of the bar has a panel with a couple of buttons that let you turn up and down the volume, turn the Bluetooth on and off, change the input and turn on and off the power. All this can also be done using the remote, which is included. On the back panel, you will find all the ports, which include an optical digital input, analog audio, or RCA port, and a USB port.
The subwoofer has the same modern design; the only downside with a separate subwoofer is that it will take up more space. The back panel on the subwoofer features a ported design that optimizes the low-frequency output.
